8 Most Unthinkable WWE Changes Since Roman Reigns Became Champion

4. Reigning 5 Stars

If you exclude NXT, WWE went 11 whole years without seeing a 5-star rating from esteemed wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer with the last being that iconic fight in Chicago between CM Punk and John Cena.

Despite Roman coming very close on a number of occasions, he has never put on a performance that Dave has felt worthy of the accolade and it was actually two men who Reigns knows all too well that ended the drought. Cody Rhodes' half-pec heroics over Seth Rollins at Hell In A Cell 2022 was a match that Meltzer described as "compelling" before awarding it the illustrious five stars.

Since then, WWE has found themselves hitting the 5-star mark more often with three further matches reaching that level in the past year alone. Gunther's physical war with Sheamus at Clash At The Castle, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn's emotional tag title win on WrestleMania Saturday and Gunther's chop fest victory over Drew McIntyre and 'The Celtic Warrior' on WrestleMania Sunday all gained 5 stars from the man himself.

While Dave's ratings are just the opinions of one man, it is an indication of where WWE's match quality was in previous years and how the in-ring action has skyrocketed since Reigns won the belt.
