8 Movie Characters That Should Be WWE Gimmicks

1. Bill The Butcher - Gangs Of New York

The best characters tend to be those that are based on real people, played by Daniel Day-Lewis, or the star of a Scorsese flick. Bill the Butcher is fortunate to fall under all three categories, which is why he tops the list of movie character that should be gimmicks. William €œBill the Butcher€ Cutting is based on William Poole, a gentlemen from the early 1800s who was a bare knuckle boxer and had a hand in the political rumblings of New York City at the time. Though Poole was killed over a decade before the events of the Civil War, Bill the Butcher is depicted in Gangs as being an instrumental figure in both the eradication of the Irish from New York, as well as the events leading to the Civil War Draft Riots of 1863. The Butcher is a tough S.O.B., with a hardline and a firm hand.

Why It Should Be a Gimmick: Pride, Honor, Tradition

Bill the Butcher is not a man influenced exclusively by money, nor is his motivated entirely by winning. William Cutting is a man who believes he knows what is right and he will fight to ensure that what he believes is right will be made so in life. He sticks to a code and he commands with an iron fist by his code. He€™s a cult leader, he€™s a General and he€™s a foot soldier, all rolled into one man.

Any character with legs to run on is one that€™s passionate to the death about a particular cause. If there€™s a fire burning inside of them to reach a particular end, then that character will pursue any means to reach that end. In Bill Cutting€™s case, he€™s a prideful American that€™s native to his own soil. He is not an immigrant and despises the immigrants that dare seek equality on his land. Thus, divisions are made and factions are created to support his cause. His ability to inspire through example allows him to command an audience and acquire sympathizers to his cause. Cutting doesn€™t just assemble a stable, he builds an army.

The key is pride in homeland and family. When pride is that strong, it has the potential to border on ignorance. That ignorance applies to peace, persuasion, and compromise. Cutting will always be protective of his own and be hostile to anyone who intrudes. These kind of qualities combined with a bare knuckle boxing background would make for a Zeb Colter gimmick times a million. Not to mention, he could feud with Mickey from Snatch right away.
