7. Lyra Valkyria Going Up The Card

...it's Lyra herself.

If her Women’s IC Title reign was a test to see how well Valkyria would adapt to the main WWE roster, then she passed it with flying colours. By the end of play at MITB, Lyra looked every bit the bigger star than she had been mere months ago. WWE has allowed her to show some spirit on the mic and find her voice on TV, and they’ve generally let her get on with things inside the ring come the PLEs. Now, one can see her going up a division to the main Women’s World Title scene after one more match vs. Becky.

There's this ridiculous notion amongst some wrestling fans that losses equal disaster. Pinning hopes on a favourite wrestler winning absolutely every bout they work is futile. Everybody has to lose, and nobody can be Bill Goldberg during his initial WCW days forever. That's unrealistic. For Lyra, bouncing back from a star-making lost feud to Becky Lynch will feel good.

She has a bright future, and that Women's Intercontinental Title reign proved it. It was a worthy experiment from WWE creative, and it's clear that Triple H is fond of what Valkyria brings to the table. Those matches against Lynch at Backlash and MITB might've just secured Lyra a bigger spot on Raw going forwards.

IYO SKY might not be Women's World Champ for too much longer, so watch this space. Valkyria's own title tilt would be better against an out and out heel, so whomever replaces IYO (Naomi?) would be a fine opponent. Sure, that depends on who Naomi cashes in on, but it's all food for thought.
