8 One-Time WWE Champions Who Deserved A Second Reign

1. Eddie Guerrero

Few stories in wrestling are as inspirational as Eddie Guerrero's. After being fired by the WWE due to his drug and alcohol abuse in 2001, Latino Heat rebuilt his reputation on the indies and was re-hired by the company. Becoming one of the most popular wrestlers on the roster, Eddie was deemed ready to hold the company's top prize in February 2004. Eddie, who talked candidly about his substance struggles in promos, overcame the mighty Brock Lesnar in a superlative match at No Way Out. Jumping into the crowd and celebrating with his family, the emotional Eddie had fulfilled a lifelong dream, one he'd thought to be impossible. You couldn't keep the smile from his face. Unfortunately, while Eddie may have been ready to become champion, he wasn't totally ready for what lay ahead. Eddie let the pressure get to him and he began taking things like television ratings and PPV buyrates very personally. He was also exhausted by the main event schedule. Eddie began to crack and WWE decided to take the title off him, for his own good. He dropped the belt to JBL and never really received another crack at it. Impressed by his world-class performances during the year, Eddie was under consideration for another reign at the time of his death in 2005.
