8 Questions That WWE Fans Will Inevitably Ask Themselves
6. Why Cant The Wrestlers -Sorry - 'Entertainers' See The Cameras Backstage?
There is pretty much one person to thank for us having to ask ourselves this question Kevin Dunn. Dunn is the rarely seen, but well-known brain behind how WWE television looks. Love the WWE style or hate it, you cant deny that Dunns presentation has been incredibly successful and has transformed the perception of wrestling from some grimy thing done by hillbillies in a smokey barn somewhere to a genuine television phenomenon. But with the good aspects of WWE television there also comes the bad, and this trend of filming backstage sequences where the wrestlers dont seem to realise there is AN ENTIRE FILM CREW watching their every move is even dumber than the collapsing referees. Yet, not only is it still pervasive to this day but it, in fact, seems to be getting used even more. Most of the dumb questions that arise during your average WWE telecast actually dont bother me that much this one INFURIATES me, however. I remember this wasnt such a big deal when I was a kid. It was able to be brushed off because I didnt understand how sound recording worked for TV, and I figured there could have just been one camera that was hidden away somehow. But it's just so prevalent now, and with that prevalence, all subtlety has been lost. Its imbecilic, its atmosphere-destroying, and all it does is make the viewer wonder how dumb the wrestler on the screen is for not seeing the cameras and the people operating them - and then how dumb they are for watching.
