3. Why Are We Supposed To Think A Flimsy Table Is Menacing?
Seriouslywe know that these things are made of the flimsiest particle board available, and we know that they are weakened in the middle so that they will snap easily and break the fall of the wrestler. I have never seen anyone, no matter how clueless to the finer points of the art of wrestling, ever think that a table was any threat whatsoever. Sure, it might have looked kind of cool the first time and, sure, when it goes awry it makes for a great Botchamania moment. But its incredibly tired in 2016. There is a fine line between paying homage to a tradition, and just rehashing lazy spots because you cant think of anything better to do. Its believability is all but gone, and it just leaves you wondering who on earth is buying a crappy table as a credible threat. How can these super-tough guys, beefed-up guys be so hurt by a little bit of glorified MDF?
