8 Questions That WWE Fans Will Inevitably Ask Themselves

2. Why Does The Show Always Finish On Time?

A significant portion of WWE's televised content is live. McMahon takes real pride in this - the point of the shows being live is that it is supposed to feel like anything can happen and that you have to watch right then and there. They've always bragged about the unpredictability factor of their product, even as it gets more and more predictable with each show that passes. So if Raw and the PPVs are all live and supposed to be embracing spontaneity, why does every single show finish on time? It bothered me when I was a kid who believed in kayfabe, and it bothers me to this day. Somehow, despite the fact that we are supposed to get invested in the idea that this is a product where anything can happen, we have it proven to us every week that in fact nothing will happen because everything is wrapped up by the end of the show. Just a couple of weeks ago Vince McMahon was arrested, taken away, processed, and made it back to the arena in time for the end of the show. Which is just nuts - no American police department is that efficient, particularly in a city the size of New York. It's only a minor issue really, because it would be even more annoying if the show didn't finish on time, but come on. Surely if they want us to be surprised, they can find some middle ground so we aren't left wondering how Stephanie McMahon instinctively knew that a Roman and Sheamus fight would take exactly ten and a half minutes. And maybe if Vince gets arrested, do it at the end so that he doesn't have to be processed and fight traffic and get back to the arena in superhuman time? Just a thought.
