4. David Flair Is Whipped Into Shape

Ric Flair's wrestling legacy is one of multiple belts strapped across his waist. His son, David's, is somewhat more ignominious: one of multiple belts slapped across his back.

The Flair heir's hide was brutally tanned by the tanned hand of Hulk Hogan at Souled Out '99, after he and his father had defeated soon-to-be West Texas Rednecks Curt Hennig and Barry Windham. Following the contest, the nWo hit the ring, such was their wont, handcuffed Ric to the ringpost, and forced him to observe helplessly as David was subjected to over a dozen lashes of Hollywood's strap.

The beatdown was planned, but the severity was not. Hogan was only supposed to whip the young Flair a couple of times but - according to Ric - took liberties, for reasons which to this day haven't been clarified. Whether he was sending a message to Flair or simply got carried away, David received a severe punishment, but he took it with absolutely no complaint. Even after the match, the humble youngster was said to have been proud of the angle - and more than pleased with the $10,000 dividend.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
