6. Randy Orton vs Dolph Ziggler - Night Of Champions 2012
WWE.comOne important aspect of selecting a handful of matches from the last few years to define and highlight the product to a newcomer is making sure you show them a good variety of a) the different styles of matches in pro-wrestling and b) actual in-ring talent. It would be very easy indeed to fill this list entirely of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan matches but that does little other than to highlight CM Punk and Daniel Bryan, rather than the product as a whole. This match between Orton and Ziggler occurred in the middle of the card on a relatively forgettable PPV and I dare say a good few of you out there had to take a moment to remember that it even happened. There being so many matches now in a single calender year, it is difficult to remember those that weren't exclusively highlighted, such as main events or gimmick matches. As such, however, this match's place on this list is even more important. Not only was the match an extremely smooth display of in-ring athleticism and story-telling, it puts over the notion that an excellent match can occur at any spot on any card on any night. In addition, it exposes the work of Ziggler, one of WWE's best in-ring performers of recent years. A forgotten gem, this one.
