8 Reasons To Check Out See No Evil 2 This Halloween
4. The Kills
In 2004, the world was introduced to the Saw film series. The story was incredibly original and the Jigsaw character was one that struck audiences and suddenly, the horror world had a new cash cow. Beyond the killer and the complex story were the elaborate kills. Every time a character was eviscerated, it had to be done in the most creative way imaginable or viewers would denounce the entire film as being too tame or boring. It was a dangerous precedent to set because, eventually, filmmakers would run out of ideas and those over-the-top kills that fans had begged for would become nonsensical, gore for the sake of gore. See No Evil 2 sees a return to kills based in brutality and reality. Sure, there is one that might be a bit far-fetched but for the most part, they are the type of kills that can very much happen in real life, given the materials and a damaged psyche. From throat crushing to eye gouging, Goodnight tears through our main cast with power and force typically reserved for star Kane's in-ring persona with World Wrestling Entertainment. Will fans view the film, then claim it had the coolest kills ever? No. But those same fans who enjoyed the sheer brutality of Jason Voorhees will relish the opportunity to watch Jacob Goodnight overwhelm men and women with brute strength.
