8 Reasons Why Goldberg Vs. Lesnar Was Completely Terrible For Business

5. He Was Booked Even More Dominant Than The Original Streak

WCW pushed Goldberg as incredibly dominant. But not THIS dominant. Go find any Goldberg match with any major star that was as short and one-sided as his match with Goldberg. Bouts with Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Diamond Dallas Page all lasted longer than the Lesnar fight. Hell, Goldberg sold more for Glacier than he did for Brock Lesnar, a man who won a UFC fight THIS YEAR.

In WCW, they made Goldberg look unstoppable in his matches with top names, but they let his opponents retain some form of credibility. Brock was manhandled in a way last night that we’d never seen happen to him before. It was far too damaging.

Of course, Lesnar can be rebuilt. They’ve had to do it before with him, but it’s a waste of time. They shouldn’t have made him look so pathetic, as now they have to book him in incredibly dominant ways just to bring him back to the level he was at. And now, because he lost so decisively, his mystique will likely never reach the level it was at before the match started.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
