8 Reasons WWE Will Regret Releasing Sasha Banks

AEW

If Sasha does still want to pursue a wrestling career, AEW is the obvious destination. Of course Tony Khan’s promotion hasn’t done the best job of serving it’s female talent but a star and recognised draw on the level of Sasha Banks might force Khan to drag women’s matches out of the Dynamite death slot.

Despite some great talent AEW’s women’s division is generally treated as a minor concern. Their matches aren’t a draw so they’re booked badly and shoehorned into one small section of programming. This trains the audience to think they’re right not to care and the cycle continues.

This suits WWE perfectly as they can still look like they’re ahead of their rivals in this department without really making much effort. The last thing Vince McMahon needs is for Tony Khan to land a women who is also a massive, ratings draw and fan favourite.

That might force Khan to start booking women with conviction, leading to the division suddenly looking credible. Which would really throw into sharp relief just how bad a job WWE are doing with their own women.
