Eternal frenemies, “The Boss” and “The Hugger” have proven to be a magical pairing both on NXT and the main roster. They work brilliantly together as partners or rivals.

The pair endured some seriously woeful booking, from their first tag title run to a teased lesbian angle, to go on and deliver the most compelling storyline and matches of WWE’s empty arena era. Not only did they tear it up in the ring but their feud was full of small details that were beyond what WWE usually offered. These details seemed to come from two wrestlers who really believed in what they were doing.

The attention to detail paid off, Sasha’s eventual victory over Bayley scored WWE their biggest rating of the entire pandemic. The pair’s superlative worked transcended the bleak realities of Thunderdome wrestling and captured the attention of over two and a half million viewers. You’d have to imagine WWE’s TV paymasters at USA and Fox were taking notice.

Losing Sasha means you also lose the incredible chemistry and storied history she shared with her best sparring partner. As well as the interest and ratings that chemistry is proven to generate.
