8 Reasons WWE Will Regret Releasing Sasha Banks
1. The Lack Of Stars
Despite WWE’s desire to make the brand itself the star rather than the promotion’s wrestlers, Sasha still resonates as one. The Mandalorian actor is a genuine, proven draw with massive crossover appeal and a rabid fan base. That’s something WWE could really do with right now. The promotion might refer to all of its talent as “superstars” but thanks to years of repetitive, 50/50 booking few WWE wrestlers live up to the title.
Self-made star Cody was doing well until injury took him out. Randy Orton has never been more popular and has cultivated a quasi living legend status simply by hanging about for so long but he’s also on the shelf. Ronda Rousey hasn’t been the same since her return and Becky Lynch’s star has similarly dimmed since she stopped being “The Man”. Roman and Brock are both part time.
WWE have plenty of talented workers but desperately need credible top line talent for their ambitious stadium shows. They’ve already downgraded Money In The Bank. No one wants to see Clash At The Castle moved to Cardiff’s branch of Castle Bingo.
