8 Reasons You Need To Start Watching TNA Again
3. No More Main Event Cast-Offs
When TNA picks up a former WWE wrestler these days, it’s usually a younger, less expensive talent who still has a lot of upside, like Tyrus, Drew Galloway and EC III. It was most definitely not always this way. The company used to try and snatch up every single available former Monday Night War main-eventer, and then immediately promoted them to the main event.
Over the years we’ve seen Mick Foley, Sting, Hulk Hogan, Rob Van Dam, Mr. Anderson, Booker T, Scott Steiner, Kevin Nash, and Scott Hall all come in and take up the spotlight. This left the TNA originals pushed to the sides, and largely forgotten about.
Some former top stars like Jeff Hardy, Kurt Angle and Bobby Lashley have helped out TNA a bit, proving they were still there to work and not just earn a paycheck. Others treated their time in TNA more like a resort where they could make a good living without putting in much effort. Those days are over.
It’s likely that the company’s money problem forced this change in philosophy to happen, but it’s worked out well for them. There is now an actual sense of upwards mobility that wasn’t there before.
