8 Signs That Vince McMahon Could Be Retiring From WWE Soon

3. The Current Global Situation

Vince McMahon Retirement
WWE

For the past several months, WWE has had to put on shows in the confines of the empty WWE Performance Center as a result of the global situation that we're all experiencing right now.

Whether WWE should even be continuing to bring talent to the PC to put on a weekly wrestling show is a debate for another day, but Raw, SmackDown, and NXT are all powering forward with providing fresh action each and every week.

Despite how much WWE is pushing the narrative that they are merely going ahead with regular programming as a way to entertain the masses, part of the reality is that Vince McMahon is so stubborn he won't even buckle in the face of a modern-day catastrophe.

The longer the current climate continues on, the worse things are going to get for WWE. An enforced empty arena environment for WWE programming is clearly costing the company viewers, but financially it's also hitting Vince and WWE hard. With no fans allowed to attend shows, it's not only ticket sales that have dried up - as there's also the direct impact on merchandise numbers as a result of in-person, at-event purchases being off the table for the foreseeable future.

On a personal level, the lockdown restrictions being adhered to in the United States mean that McMahon is classed as being in the vulnerable category by the sheer matter of his age.

In reality, it's without hyperbole to say that the global situation of today might not get back to any real sense of even semi-normality until the end of the year or beyond. As such, it could be that, rather than waiting for full control and movement to be restored back to him, Vince may use this prolonged period of uncertainty to quietly retire.
