4. Those Rumours Of WWE Being Sold

Not only have we seen Vince McMahon and several other key WWE figures selling multitudes of stock in recent months, but rumours have once again surfaced of WWE being sold.

Over the years, there have been so many stories of how McMahon was about to sell WWE to an outside corporation - only for nothing to come of that bar online scuttlebutt and speculation.

Given Vince's age, the financial impact of the collapsed XFL, and the fact that McMahon isn't as ever-present at WWE shows as he used to be, maybe now really is the time that full control of WWE will either be handed over to someone within McMahon's inner circle or the company could be outright sold.

Previously, ESPN and FOX have both been mooted as potential buyers. Those two parties have the financial resources to purchase WWE, should the organisation be put up for sale - in particular ESPN, who is 80% owned by the all-conquering, all-purchasing Walt Disney Company.

Dutch Mantell recently speculated that WWE will be sold later this year, before the former Zeb Colter played down those comments. But still, for all of the times that talk of WWE being sold has reared its head, maybe now this rumour and innuendo has as good a chance as any as being turned into fact. If so, the sports entertainment world would see Vince McMahon riding into the sunset with the same sort of hefty money bags afforded to George Lucas after he sold Lucasfilm to the House of Mouse in 2012.
