8 Storylines That Will Revitalise WWE In The Second Half Of 2018
4. Monster In The Bank
There's no reason for Braun Strowman to have won the Money in the Bank briefcase. He looks ridiculous carrying that big, green case around backstage and his victory seems to run counter-productive to the ethos of the match. The briefcase should be used to elevate someone just outside of the main event scene - à la Seth Rollins or The Miz - rather than a performer who could be parachuted into a clash with Brock Lesnar at any moment.
However, Strowman's use of the briefcase thus far has been very clear. As soon as Brock Lesnar dares to show his face on WWE programming, he's set to incur the wrath of the Monster Among Men. This creates a feel almost akin to that of the old Hardcore Championship, in which Lesnar is going to have to watch his back constantly when he's in the vicinity of the ring, in case there's a monster waiting with a referee in tow.
It's questionable as to whether Strowman's victory is the correct use of the Money in the Bank briefcase. However, it has created a sense of intrigue around the Universal Championship that has not existed for nearly a year as Lesnar's stagnant reign has extended into infinity.
