The 2007 Great American Bash was a pretty awful pay-per-view. Classics such as Carlito vs. The Sandman and Hornswoggle winning the Cruiserweight Championship clogged up the undercard, but luckily for all involved the main event saved the day.

John Cena vs. Lashley was the sort of match that many groaned at back in 2007, but the two studs put on a match that was far better than anyone expected. It told the fairly simple story of two supreme athletes doing all they can to stay ahead of the other, surviving each other's best shots.

Cena picked up the win with an Avalanche AA, but Lashley came out of this match looking more credible than at any point in his WWE career. Unfortunately, he would never appear on another WWE PPV.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
