An attempt at savviness from folks who are 'too hip' for simple reality, it's been alleged over years that Hart helped concoct the ending to his WWE career, and it was all an elaborate scheme to get people buzzing about a crazy story. The idea that any of it could be fake is crazier than the reality of it all.

In the two decades that have passed since, had it been a work, somebody inside would have blabbed about it by now. Hart's animosity with Michaels had stretched back for some time, and he hated breaking his lucrative contract with his longtime employer to go work for "the unknown".

There are simply too many moving parts for everything to have stayed as under wraps for this long if it were all a con.
