Nash asked Michaels about working down at the Performance Center, and he responded with, “You know me, I’ll just sort of show up.” WWE inquired why the Hall of Famer was appearing there so frequently and if it was something he was interested in continuing to do in an official capacity.

The Michaels family came to Florida for a vacation and decided at the end that they hadn’t spent enough time in the area, so Shawn rented a house for another three weeks. During that time he began pondering the next chapter of his life. His wife Rebecca asked him if he still wanted to be doing ranch work ten years from now, and after some deep soul-searching he decided that, while cowboying around was fun, he wanted a slightly altered plan for his future and once again felt the business calling him.

HBK said his current role at the PC is as a volunteer, noting he has yet to reach a formal agreement. After working with the company since the age of 23, he just assumes they’ll eventually make an actual deal, adding that he’s the “worst businessman in the world.”

He claimed he’s never done anything for the money, which at times has been his downfall, and his friend Nash countered by saying his first and most important question has always been, “What is the pay?”

WWE would be wise to put Shawn on the Performance Center's permanent staff payroll. There are very few people with the wealth of wrestling psychology and storytelling knowledge that HBK possesses, and having him available full-time to pass that on to the next generations would be an invaluable resource for the company.
