8 Things We Learned From Kane On The Ross Report
2. Paul Bearer Told People Backstage Kane Was His Son
To this day, Glenn Jacobs believes Kane wouldn't have been so successful had Paul Bearer not foreshadowed his arrival in 1997. Warning The Undertaker that his brother was alive and coming to get him, Bearer did an awesome job hyping up the new character. That's something Jacobs says he will appreciate forever.
In a humorous moment, Jacobs revealed that Bearer was so proud of him that he'd go around backstage telling everybody in earshot that Kane was really his son. Perhaps indulging in some method acting was the manager's way of getting into character, but it cracked Jacobs up to see bemused faces behind the curtain.
Bearer liked Jacobs immediately and took him under his wing. According to Glenn, the Kane character wouldn't exist without Bearer's influence or credibility with wrestling fans. That's classy of Jacobs to put all credit at the feet of Bearer, rather than patting himself on the back.
