8 Things We Learned From Shawn Michaels On Talk Is Jericho Part 1

5. Being Undersized In The World Of Wrestling

If you weren't watching wrestling at least as far back as the early 1990s you may not realize what a truly big man's game it was in those days. In the modern era, men like Daniel Bryan, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk and AJ Styles - while small compared to most of their competitors - don't feel out of place competing against their larger colleagues. But when Shawn Michaels was coming up, main events featuring guys his size were a rarity. He discusses the challenges of working with the larger teams in the WWE, saying that he and his Rockers partner Marty Jannetty were told by Demolition that they would have to double up on every move to get them off their feet, something they hadn't really dealt with prior to arriving on the big stage. HBK and Jericho both mention how they're a lot larger than people give them credit for, yet within the world of wrestling they're considered tiny. Shawn says in his prime he was making his living with huge guys like Kevin Nash, Scott Hall and Sid. Chris asks if Shawn carried a chip on his shoulder the same as he did, and Shawn confirms that he had a pretty big one as well - one that he used to drive him to overcome his own insecurities of never making it past the glass ceiling.
