5. His Wife Recognised Him From A Work Calendar
Stephanie was interested to learn how Austin met his wife Kristen. It's quite the story.
Kristen is a teacher. One day, one of her students brought a WWE calendar into class, so she stuck it on the wall not thinking much of the characters splashed across the front. Then, at a local World's Gym, Kristen randomly spotted a dude who looked like one of the guys on the calendar. She asked her friend if "that's that Stone Cold guy". He said yes and asked if she'd like to speak to him.
The pair got chatting, then Kristen invited Steve to come and read to the kids at school. Austin said yes, and they really hit it off after that. The future couple kept in touch, then Austin kinda invited himself over to watch football. Both of them liked it, so he wasn't inflicting some horrific 'NFL and chill' scenario on her! By his own admission, Steve "basically never left" after that.
He enjoyed spending time with Kristen, and she loved having him around the place too. They were together for around three years before eventually getting married in 2009. Now, Austin can't imagine his life without her. McMahon adored that story, especially because Kristen had been staring at a menacing looking 'Stone Cold' promo pic in her own classroom for weeks before meeting him.
To Steve, Kristen was the real stunner. How cute, eh? The married couple are really happy together, which is lovely to hear. To think, it all started because some kid innocently brought a WWE calendar to school.
