8 Things We've Learned From The Hulk Hogan Racism Controversy

6. Wrestler's Actions Effect The Stock Market

WWE shares increased by 14% earlier this month, netting shareholders a cool $160m. WWE's stock is unstable at the best of times, but this was welcome news to those who have a stake in the company. Following the news of Hulk Hogan's racist behaviour, however, WWE stock tanked. The day the story broke, WWE shares decreased to $16.60, a drop of almost 4%. This drop swiped about $50m away from shareholders. Even after Hogan apologised, shares continued to drop, bottoming out at $16 in after hours trading. He may not have technically been a WWE employee anymore, but Hogan's actions still effected WWE in very real ways.
