WWE’s recent policy of recruiting extensively from smaller companies around the world has paid major dividends. Not only has it let them secure some of the planet’s most talented wrestlers, but it has seen them build a roster of superstars who already know each other from working elsewhere, and therefore have ready-made chemistry when competing in NXT or on the main roster.

Though several years younger than most of his peers, Cole fits this category to a tee. He’ll be joining a group of friends if he signs with WWE, and he’s particularly close with United States Champion Kevin Owens, whom he teamed (and fought) with in PWG. Cole has also worked alongside Owens’ long-term rival Sami Zayn in the past. He has even worked alongside NXT referee Drake Wuertz, who used to compete on the indie circuit.

In terms of allies, Cole was once part of a stable called The Kingdom alongside current Raw Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy. Mike Bennett and Maria Kanellis, both of whom are reportedly on the verge of signing with WWE, were also a major part of the group. These connections should ease Cole’s transition into the company, and help him feel comfortable from day one.
