8 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Adam Cole

6. Cole Has Tried Out For WWE Before

If Cole does end up joining WWE as expected, it’ll be third time lucky for the Florida native. The former ROH Champion has attended two WWE tryouts in the past, but didn’t make the grade on either occasion, with his first failure coming as a green 19 year old.

Just two years into his training, Adam attended a tryout at Afa the Wild Samoan’s school and got to spend a week working not only with Afa, but also Haku. While Cole speaks positively of the experience, he concedes that he just wasn’t ready for it, and wasn’t surprised when WWE didn’t give him a second look. Fortunately, the experience compelled him to work tirelessly to ensure that the next time a similar opportunity materialised, he’d be better prepared.

Cole’s second tryout came three years later, and while things went smoother, Cole had still only been wrestling for six years. He wasn’t signed, but the tryout helped put Adam on WWE’s radar, as the company have reportedly been tracking him ever since. It has long been speculated that Cole has an open WWE contract ready for him to sign whenever he feels like it, and after falling at two previous hurdles, it looks like this is finally about to happen.
