While the likes of Finn Balor and Samoa Joe came to the WWE Performance Center after expending years of blood, sweat, and tears on smaller stages across the globe, Jordan and Gable have been with World Wrestling Entertainment for the duration of their professional wrestling careers.

Jordan got his start with Florida Championship Wrestling in July 2011 until the company changed its name to NXT in 2012, and Gable joined him two years later. While both grew-up as lifelong professional wrestling fans, neither had officially stepped inside the square circle until WWE came calling. Their long, decorated amateur wrestling careers gave them an ideal base to build-on, but compared to some of their peers, American Alpha are relatively inexperienced as pro-wrestlers.

This only makes their success all the more impressive. The technical side of amateur wrestling might be immediately transferrable, but professional wrestling is a performance art. Jordan and Gable have worked tirelessly to perfect that side of their game, and just like Angle before them, their development has been natural and organic.

While Finn Balor and Samoa Joe learned their craft elsewhere, American Alpha were built in the Performance Centre from the ground up, and should be considered one of WWE developmental’s greatest successes.
