1. Their Epic Rivalry With The Revival

For anyone looking to go back and familiarise themselves with American Alpha, their recently-concluded three-match series with The Revival is an ideal starting point.

The rivalry kicked-off at TakeOver: Dallas. The Revival were Tag Team Champions, and after defeating the Vaudevillains a few weeks earlier, Alpha were the number one contenders. While Sami Zayn and Shinsuke Nakamura stole the show that night, American Alpha and The Revival ran them close. Their fast-paced, athletic style combined perfectly with The Revival’s ‘80s style brawling and cut-off psychology to set a perfect tone for the rest of the evening. In the end, Alpha nailed their Grand Amplitude finisher to claim the Championships to a huge pop from the capacity crowd.

The teams rematched two months later at TakeOver: The End. Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder were out for revenge, and somehow, the four wrestlers managed to improve on their Dallas performance. From counters and nearfalls to strikes and submissions, it was the night Jordan confirmed himself as the best “hot tag” in the business, and Gable perfect the art of playing a Ricky Morton-esque face in-peril.

The teams would meet again in a Best Two Out Of Three Falls match on the June 24th NXT broadcast, and it was a perfect conclusion to a truly memorable trilogy. The Revival walked away having successfully retained their belts, while American Alpha had officially concluded their developmental business, and would soon be on their way to the main roster.

The American Alpha/Revival rivalry produced three of the most exciting WWE matches of 2016 thus far, and provide a perfect taste of what fans can expect from Jordan and Gable on the main roster.
