8 Things WWE Fans Need To Know About Keith Lee
4. He Almost Quit Wrestling After A Second Tryout In 2013
Then, after another failed WWE tryout in 2013, big Keith Lee decided it was time to hold his hands up, declare himself done and move away from pursuing a full-time career in pro wrestling.
Again, it was the bothersome, backward mindset of some local promoters that got under his skin. That, combined with the feeling he'd never progress without WWE's help, made Lee believe it was time to move on and quit the biz.
The oppressive (and rather conservative) approach in Texas was too much to handle any longer. During that interview with ESPN, Lee said the solitude got to him and he didn't think he'd be able to stomach spinning his wheels at home when there was a world of experiences out there.
Lee's biggest hurdle was escaping the safeness of home promotions, but he couldn't do that without other promoters showing interest in his work. Thankfully, some of wrestling's top minds were willing to intervene and encourage Lee's desire to improve.
