Kofi Kingston and Big E defeated Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows via trombone assist, and tonight they will celebrate their 400th day as WWE World Tag Team Champions. The overriding opinion on the internet seems to be 'they might as well break Demolition's record, they are so close after all'.

Am I the only one who has a big problem with this line of thinking? Records should never be broken because 'oh they are almost there'. They should never be broken for the sake of breaking a record. After 400 days, The New Day have simply overstayed their welcome as champions and their act is in need of freshening up. In truth, they have been stale since WrestleMania.

Gallows & Anderson losing also pretty much ends them as a credible team, at least for the time being. If you hadn't followed New Japan you'd have no reason to think they were anything other than a couple of bald losers. Sure, getting screwed means they might get another chance in the near future, but the title switch relevancy train has left the station.

Also, babyface champions win thanks to manager-interference? Where was Nurse Dana when we so badly needed her?

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
