8 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Bubba Ray Dudley

7. He Was Sent To Developmental Despite Being Very Experienced

The Dudleys were not doing very well by 2004. They had been in WWE for about five years, but they were stale. They had an awful feud with The Undertaker leading up to a handicap tag match at Great American Bash 2004 that actually headlined that show. It was called a Concrete Crypt match. For the rest of 2004, they weren't featured very much. They were on shows like Velocity fairly regularly. Towards the end of 2004 and in the early part of 2005 they were sent down to Ohio Valley Wrestling, which was WWE's developmental territory at that time. It was so weird to read about that back then because they were both in their 30s with a decade of experience by that point, but they were wrestling in developmental. The main reason for the Dudleys being in OVW was that the creative team really had nothing for them to do. You would think that they would come up with something, but it just didn't happen. Being sent down to OVW was likely one of the main reasons why they were gone from WWE later in 2005. It was as if both sides knew it was time to move on.
