8 Times AEW's Tony Khan Was A DISASTER-TIER Booker

3. Saraya

AEW signing Saraya felt like a worthy addition to a women's roster that had drawn some criticism for needing more attention. She was one of the major performers who put NXT on the map, became the youngest women's world champion in WWE history, had experience at the highest level, and even had a big-time Hollywood movie made about her life. For experience and public notoriety alone, bringing her in felt like a no brainer.

After debuting at Grand Slam on September 21st, 2022, her nearly three-year run in AEW is something that nobody will look back fondly on. 'The Outcasts' faction had cliched motivations to belittle AEW's homegrown superstars in a way that never felt convincing on her part or that of her stablemates, Ruby Soho and Toni Storm.

Saraya never felt particularly interested at any point in her AEW run. How much of that was down to being jaded with wrestling at that point, and how much of it owed to booking that never felt remotely engaging, depends on your vantage point. What's undeniable is that it never captured the imagination of AEW's audience, and that WWE is yet to approach her suggests that this run did significant damage to her reputation, too.
