8 Times Great Wrestlers Put On Terrible Matches At WrestleMania

At the time, pretty much everyone who called themselves a wrestling fan passionately hated the idea of John Cena and The Miz contesting the main event of WrestleMania.

This was before we had all woken up to the genius of the then-WWE Champion, though. We regarded him as one would a persistent cough that lingers after other flu symptoms have subsided: kind of annoying, but nothing that won't pass within a few days.

But even if we set aside the personalities of those involved, the bout left much to be desired in terms of its presentation on the night. It felt less like a fight between two evenly-matched adversaries than it did a legend of the squared circle against someone who had won a competition to be there.

Granted, the ending was one no Cena hater will ever forget. The Rock, who was the designated host for the night's proceedings, wound up costing the challenger his chance at glory after coming down to the ring to restart the match. It was a great moment in an otherwise poor match.
