As documented in Chris Jericho's first few books, his move from WCW to the WWF in 1999 was hardly a smooth one. 'Y2J' struggled to get up to speed with what the company wanted from him, and he came across as more of a spoiled brat than a credible heel. Worse, Jericho wasn't doing the things he was good at.

So, the Brooklyn Brawler (of all people) pulled him aside.

One day, Jericho had finished his match and was getting ready to go do something else when Brawler asked if he'd be up for shooting some promos. Shooing the agent away, Jericho said he'd do them some other time. Sighing, Brawler reminded the new hire that he'd have to report back to Vince McMahon, who wouldn't be thrilled if he found out Jericho couldn't be bothered cutting interviews.

That was the boot up the arse Jericho needed. From that point on, he realised that Brawler didn't give a damn if he did promos or not, but McMahon did. Brawler wasn't asking because he desperately wanted Jericho to do promos, he was asking because top brass wanted the newcomer to get over.
