When Scott Hall sold Vince McMahon on a Scarface-inspired Razor Ramon gimmick in 1992, he still hadn't established the smaller nuances of the character. As with any new act, Hall needed time to iron out the wrinkles and work out what being the WWF's new 'Bad Guy' meant. It was sure to be a long road.

Or, it would've been had Bobby Heenan not been such a frickin' genius.

According to Hall in several shoot interviews over the years, Heenan was the one who came up with his toothpick throwing routine. Bobby also believed Ramon needed to show more swagger generally if he was going to be taken seriously as a threat by fans. In short, Razor had to come across as someone who believed he could do some damage.

Hall took that advice on board and quickly became one of the promotion's top heels. He was wrestling Bret Hart for the WWF Title on pay-per-view less than six months after debuting. That might not have happened had he not started carrying himself like a sauntering brute.
