8 Times Shane McMahon Showed Up In WWE Just In Time To Make Things Worse

7. Watering Down Drew McIntyre – 2019

Despite gaining a bit of fan following, Drew McIntyre once again found himself roaming the endless halls of the midcard for a bulk of 2019.

Although he would later prove himself a legitimate main-eventer and championship contender during the following year, at this point, McIntyre spent a good amount of time staring up at the lights.

Aligning himself with resident rock-jobber Elias did little to improve McIntyre’s ranking. Worse still, the duo became henchmen to Shane McMahon while he cherry-picked his opponents as though he was allowed to select anything he wanted from his father’s candy store. Rather than receive a traditional match of his own, along with Elias, McIntyre served as background fodder to everyone from McMahon to Roman Reigns instead.

Without Shane's involvement, the storyline could’ve very well been centred on Drew. However, once his role as McMahon’s heater faded away, he once found it an arduous task to climb his way back to the top. Fortunately, his performance in the 2020 men’s Royal Rumble match would change everything for the sword-wielding warrior.
