8 Times The Wrong Wrestler Won The Royal Rumble

Oh WWE, when will you learn? The WWE Universe collectively took a dump all over the 2014 Royal Rumble when it was clear that Daniel Bryan wasn't going to be involved, so the company decided to avoid a similar situation a year later by having Bryan enter the match. Somehow they managed to make things worse, by having Bryan limply eliminated early on before Roman Reigns overcame the combined might of Kane and Big Show to win it all.

Why oh why WWE think this was a good idea? If the plan was to extinguish all hope related to Bryan early on, the plan was an absolutely abysmal one. To make matters worse, the rest of the match saw hero after hero vanquished at the hands of Kane and Big Show, two veterans who hadn't been relevant in a long while.

Then, to have them be defeated by Roman Reigns was the final straw, a decision so poor that it led to the live audience booing The Rock - and The Rock never gets booed. You can question whether or not Bryan should have won, but Reigns clearly wasn't the right move here.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
