8 Times TNA Tried To Be WWE

5. The Katie Vick Angle Ripped Off

Incredibly, in 2012 TNA attempted their own version of the infamous Katie Vick garbage fire from WWE’s 2002 storylines. That story had seen Triple H go deep into Kane’s past to reveal that he’d once violated the dead body of a girl he’d had a crush on. This represented the benchmark for sh*t wrestling stories for ten long years until TNA, in their infinite wisdom, decided to have AJ Styles confronted by a woman from his past that claimed to be carrying his baby.

It transpired that this ‘Claire Lynch’ was a junkie and Styles’ ex-girlfriend… and that, if her baby was his at all, it was because she’d violated him while he was asleep. Just as Triple H had produced video footage of himself pretending to be Kane pretending to indulge in necrophilia, so too ‘Claire’ produced photographs of herself posing next to Styles’ unconscious body.

Styles, never exactly Mr. Personality, wasn’t able to infuse this unbelievably dodgy storyline with any life, and - given that he’s a deeply religious and happily married family man - it was probably inappropriate to ask him to participate.
