8 Times Wrestlers Eliminated Themselves From The Royal Rumble

2. Mick Foley - 2004

When Test was found unconscious backstage during the 2004 Royal Rumble, no one was immediately sure as to who had laid him out. We were soon to find out however, as Sheriff Stone Cold Steve Austin told the assailant to head out to the ring to take the big man's place. The crowd subsequently went wild as the car crash screech and famous guitar riff sounded to herald the arrival of the Hardcore Legend himself, Mick Foley.

Randy Orton was less enthused to see Mrs. Foley's Baby Boy however, seemingly realising there and then that his night was over. Foley entered the ring to a huge pop, slugging it out with the Legend Killer and getting the better of his younger foe. Foley has never been one to care too much about his own safety, and nothing had changed as he hurled himself at Orton, eliminating the both of them with a Cactus clothesline.

The Foley/Orton rivalry of 2004 was a fantastic feud, one that gave us arguably Mick Foley's best WWE match and acting as a true launching pad for the career of Randy Orton, who remains an integral part of WWE TV to this very day.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
