8 Times Wrestlers Were Rejected In Their Hometowns

7. CM Punk (All Out 2022)

Remembered more for the eruption that happened during the post-PPV press conference than the one that went down in the wake of CM Punk's hard-fought victory over Jon Moxley, it's also often forgotten that the then-new AEW World Champion had his triumphant moment somewhat diluted by the return of another bitter rival at All Out 2022.

With MJF nearly blowing the roof off of the Now Arena as he revealed himself as 'The Joker', a usually completely pro-Punk Chicago crowd briefly turned their back on 'The Best in the World.'

It didn't matter that the 'Chick Magnet' had spilled blood and tore his triceps to bring the title home for all those in attendance, the second 'The Salt of the Earth' made his jaw-dropping comeback, cries of "M-J-F!" were all that could be heard.

And the look on a brassed off Phil's face told the story of a bloke who couldn't believe what he was seeing.

Now, it is worth remembering that those watching on very much lost their minds at Punk winning the big one once again initially. But that pop was unquestionably blown out of the water by Maxwell's arrival as Chicago opted to audibly support the returning 'Devil' over their hometown boy.
