It was quite lovely seeing 'The Face that Runs the Place' being loudly celebrated by a Boston, Massachusetts crowd during his most recent appearance on Monday Night Raw back in March.

Super Cena even shed a few tears in the moment, with the Hollywood superstar wondering whether this would actually be the last time he graced this particular arena.

Around 17 years earlier, though, that same Boston crowd were anything but delighted to see the returning future Hall of Famer. And in a rather hilarious twist of fate, this time it was Edge benefitting from a hometown crowd turning on their own at SummerSlam.

Before the pair's 2006 WWE Championship battle had even properly got underway, the passionate folks inside of the TD Garden could already be heard unleashing a few waves of "Cena Sucks!"

The challenger's usual valiant refusal to give up may as well have been a 15-minute middle finger to many of those crammed inside of the venue. They wanted nothing to do with the West Newbury boy and would settle for nothing less than a 'Rated "R"' victory.

Admittedly, there were a few thousand fans still very much up for the "You Can't See Me" ride. But they were largely drowned out by the overwhelming majority of defiant souls who reacted to Edge successfully defending via brass knucks like the Red Sox had just won the world series.
