8 Times WWE Completely Failed Dolph Ziggler

4. Not Sticking By Him During That Second Title Run

Ok, so it's not WWE's fault that Dolph suffered a concussion during a SmackDown match with Jack Swagger when he was World Champion in 2013. That injury took Ziggler out of the upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view, where he was meant to defend the title in a Triple Threat against both Swagger and Alberto Del Rio. It's what happened next that sucks.

Del Rio beat Swagger to become Dolph's new #1 contender at Payback in June. There, a double turn happened, with Alberto playing heel and Ziggler filling the role of a babyface who just wouldn't give in to serious punishment. Oh, and Del Rio beat Dolph in the match to regain the World Title, because WWE apparently refused to stand by Ziggler when he needed them most.

Turning Dolph babyface was fine, but think of the momentum he would have gained from seeing off Del Rio's vicious onslaught and defending the gold. By beating him at such a crucial moment (just 69 days into his reign), WWE once again reminded fans that Ziggler wasn't a permanent headline act. He could have been, had they showed more faith.
