8 Times WWE Punished Divas On-Air

2. Lita Takes A Stinkface For Refusing To Kiss Matt Hardy

There's something to be said for the way WWE used to constantly book their female performers to partake in disgusting acts, from the Boogeyman's worm to having to kiss the Genetic Jackhammer himself, OAP Vince McMahon. Worse than all of that, however, was the dreaded 'stinkface'. You know, that move where a 400+lb thong-wearing Samoan would literally rub his a***hole in another person's face.

Yes, many of WWE's female performers had to suffer this fate. Everyone from Trish Stratus and Chyna to Dawn Marie and Terri Runnels had the 'pleasure' of taking a stinkface. It was just taken as read that if you were a female performer on the WWE roster between 2000-2004 that you were going to have to go through with this. Some divas didn't mind and accepted it was just part of the show, a way to pop the crowd.

Lita's stinkface, however, wasn't used for a quick crowd pop and it wasn't done to 'send the fans home happy'.

She was booked to receive the move when Rikishi was in the midst of his short-lived heel run because she had the temerity to say 'no' to WWE creative. The flame-haired daredevil had a meeting with 'Kishi's crack because she (and Matt Hardy) refused to replicate an on-screen kiss, fearing that it would lessen the impact of the original (which had occurred just four days previously).

Jerry Lawler's commentary when Matt Hardy rescued her from the abyss was a direct message from WWE: 'He may come and save her, but I guarantee he won't kiss those lips again!'.

Point proven, WWE?
