In what would end up being his last match in WWE, Ryback challenged Kalisto to a US Championship bout on the pre-show of Payback 2016. Early in the contest he managed to save the champion from what could've been a serious back injury.

Kalisto was performing a Springboard Second-Rope Corkscrew Plancha to the outside, but he didn't quite get enough hang time to reach The Big Guy. Seeing that the luchador was about to slam his spine against the hardest part of the ring, Ryback basically cradled Kalisto in his arms and lowered him safely towards the ground.

Say what you want about Ryback's shrewdness (or lack thereof) or his in-ring ability (or lack thereof) - at least he had the awareness and the pure strength to catch Kalisto at the very last second.
