8 Times WWE's Triple H Was A DISASTER-TIER Booker

5. The Rock's 2025

We can have a massive amount of sympathy with Triple H on this one. In 2024, Hunter's boss decided he would supersede a year's worth of storytelling between Cody Rhodes and The Bloodline to put himself in the main event of WrestleMania 40. It was a colossal use of stroke and ego that fans revolted against immediately. Triple H was able to correct the course of this storytelling to create one of the best endings in WrestleMania history and give The Rock a new lease of life as the deplorable Final Boss.

All of this good work was flushed down the toilet on the January 6th, 2025 debut of Raw on Netflix. The Rock came out to give a smug and self-serving address in which his entire Final Boss persona was dropped for a schmoozing, political address about WWE joining the Netflix family. What should have been a quote on a press release was allowed to play out on-screen to the dismay of everyone, and was followed up by an equally loathsome appearance at NXT's New Year's Evil.

These creative misfires were then compounded by The Rock's no-show at WrestleMania 41. We will never know why Triple H and The Rock couldn't come to terms on how to pay off Dwayne's involvement in John Cena's heel turn, but ignoring it entirely was rotten. It was a reputation-damaging mess for The Rock (largely of his own doing), who followed up his great 2024 with a disastrous 2025.
