8 Top Challengers For WWE Champion Roman Reigns In 2016
2. Brock Lesnar
Despite a very lackluster build, the main event of WrestleMania 31 was one of the best WWE matches of 2015. Roman Reigns battled Brock Lesnar in one of the most physical matches ever and neither man walked away the victor. There's been no mention of a rematch on WWE television since. It's probably the biggest money match that WWE has right now and they're keeping it in their back pocket for the time being. Though anything could change from now until April, the Road to WrestleMania in Dallas doesn't appear to be leading towards another Brock vs. Roman main event. Despite those potential plans, WWE shouldn't wait too long to pull the trigger on this match as both men need to be hot in order for WWE to maximize its potential drawing power. This is why the main event of SummerSlam 2016 is the perfect time to deliver this match. With Lesnar under contract to WWE only through two additional WrestleManias after 32, WWE is likely to start working towards transitioning Lesnar's heat to its younger stars, with Roman Reigns taking top priority. If Lesnar suffers a loss before his battle with Roman, their eventual rematch doesn't mean nearly as much. At the same time, Roman's struggle to get over and stay over means that this match is better off happening sooner rather than later and the inevitable outcome of Reigns going over could backfire more than the 2015 Royal Rumble victory did. Time will tell how it will all unfold, but one thing is for certain, it will unfold between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar and it will likely happen in 2016.
