8 UFC Dream Fights Fans Never Got To See

2. Brock Lesnar Vs. Jon Jones

Given the huge box office power he possessed during his UFC run, it’s hard not to just fill this piece with Brock Lesnar fights that never happened. While trying not to go that route, it’s near impossible to not throw out Lesnar vs. Jon Jones as a dream fight that fans never got to see.

After Lesnar’s one-fight return to battle Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in July 2016, rumblings began to mount that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion was open to more fights – particularly, against Jon Jones.

The story of Jones is a troubled one, of course. Even though some may label Jonny Bones the greatest ever, the bloom has well and truly come off the rose for Jones over the past few years. In a fight capacity, Jones regularly makes it look easy and continues to amass W after W. The issue with Jones, however, is that he’s been plagued by suspensions, doping failures, and run-ins with the law.

As recently as last year, Dana White suggested that Jon stepping up to heavyweight to fight a returning Lesnar was still a possibility. Despite both Jones and Brock having likewise talked up such a fight, Lesnar seems content to ride out his days in a WWE ring rather than the Octagon.

Given that Lesnar made more money in WWE just last year than he did for all of his UFC fights combined, it’s easy to see why the 42-year-old Beast Incarnate would pass on any Jon Jones dream bout in favour of his limited, safer WWE schedule.
