8 UFC Dream Fights Fans Never Got To See

1. Georges St-Pierre Vs. Anderson Silva

When looking at the biggest UFC fights that just couldn’t, for one reason or another, be put together, there’s likely no greater potential match-up than Georges St-Pierre vs. Anderson Silva.

Both men are undoubtedly in the conversation when looking at the greatest pound-for-pound MMA fighters in history, and both men spent years dominating opponents and dominating their respective divisions. And it’s the difference in weight divisions that seems to have been the main sticking point in this dream fight never taking place.

At the time that fans were clamouring for UFC to just do whatever it took to make GSP vs. Silva happen, St-Pierre wasn’t keen on moving up to middleweight, whilst the 'Spider' likewise didn’t want to drop down to welterweight.

The irony of the matter here is, GSP’s 2017 return to action after four years away from MMA saw him finally compete at middleweight. And not just that, but that fight saw Rush become the new UFC Middleweight Champion after defeating Michael Bisping.

Since then, St-Pierre was quick to vacate his newly-won title after announcing he was battling ulcerative colitis. Even though he’s officially retired, there are always rumblings that GSP may return to the Octagon. But despite Anderson Silva still technically being a contracted UFC fighter, this is a dream match that’s sadly far too late to happen to any sort of reasonable standard – particularly with how the 44-year-old Silva is nowhere near the fighter he was during his legendary prime.
