8 Ups & 0 Downs From Impact Wrestling Emergence 2020 (Part 1)
5. Taking Over The Narrative
With regards to Moose's TNA World Heavyweight Championship defences thus far, they haven't necessarily been the greatest matches to exist, however, his defence against Trey Miguel was arguably the best one yet.
The bulk of the match was centred around 'Mr Impact Wrestling' manhandling the Rascalz member, easily lobbing him across the ring with ease on multiple occasions. Using the guard rail and the ring apron to his advantage, it was evidently clear that the TNA champion's reign wasn't coming to an end quite yet, with a Lights Out spear cementing that.
What happened after the match, though, is what really left us with something to talk about. Like he did on the post-Slammiversary edition of Impact, EC3 blindsided Moose, but this time he left with the TNA World Heavyweight Championship in his possession. 'The Essential Character' has made it clear he wants to eradicate any remnants of Total Nonstop Action to completely move on with the next stage of his career. If that means destroying Moose's title, then so be it.
Even without the post-match shenanigans, this was an enjoyable encounter, even if it did feel as if Trey was used in a jobber role. It was only a few months ago when he was being pushed to the moon.
